STRUTHERS, Ohio – Selah Dessert Theater will opens its 2021-22 season with the romantic comedy “Talking To Starlight” by Lowell Williams.
Directed by Mary Ruth Lynn, the play follows Daniel, who is great at deflecting serious conversations with his humor, and Eleanor, a woman who is struggling with what she wants out of life. After a three-month relationship, the two must decide what to do when Eleanor gets an offer for her dream job in Chile.
Should she move or should she remain and pursue a future with Daniel. Daniel, meanhwhile, operates a restaurant in Boston and has to decide whether to give it up and follow Eleanor.
To decide, they use a series of questions Eleanor found on Facebook. Laughter ensues but also learning for the couple.
Addie Lamonge plays Eleanor, who holds a doctorate in cosmology and is on her way to an important position in her field. Lukas Roberts plays Daniel, a restaurateur who is hiding a difficult past.
Set design is by Brian Palumbo, with lighting design by Jeffrey Chann. Tom O’Donnell is assistant director.
“Talking to Starlight” opens Thursday, Sept. 16, and continues Sept 17, 18, 24, and 25. Curtain time is 8 p.m. for each performance. Selah Dessert Theater upstairs at Selah Restaurant, 130 S. Bridge St.
Tickets are $19.50 (includes dessert at intermission) and are available at selahrestaurant.com. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
The theater is accessible by stairs only. Selah Dessert Theater recommends audience members wear face coverings. Other Covid protocols are addressed on the ticketing site.
