The Update | Exhibition of Iconic Photos to Open at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

CLEVELAND – The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is  iconic rock photographs of legendary musicians, including Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, Pete Townshend and many others, taken in the late ’60s.

The photographs, captured by Baron Wolman, Rolling Stone’s first chief photographer, will be on display in the new exhibit “Iconic: Baron Wolman Images of an Era,” opening Oct. 18.

“Wolman documented the era and defined it in images for generations of music fans,” said Greg Harris, rock hall CEO and president. “Wolman’s iconic photographs are a window into a very important time in our country’s social history. His Rolling Stone covers made icons out of the musicians showcased on them.”

The Rock Hall is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Advance tickets required and can be purchased at RockHall.com. 

Dana Piano Trio Recital Gets New Time

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio –The Dana Piano Trio recital, originally scheduled to premiere on the McDonough Museum of Art and Cliffe College YouTube channels on Oct. 14 has been rescheduled to 2 p.m. Oct. 18.

The Trio includes Dana School of Music faculty Kivie Cahn-Lipman, cello; Cicilia Yudha, piano; and Wendy Case, violin.

Pumpkin Pandemonium at Back Home Market

SALEM, Ohio – Pumpkin Pandemonium will take place Oct. 24 at Back Home Market and Café, 139 E. Pidgeon Road.

The event will include trick or treating from 5 to 8 p.m. and is free to the public.

The highlight will be Glow Fest, in which a field will be lit up with the creations of pumpkin carvers. 

Groups, businesses, adults and children who want to participate by creating a jack-o’-lantern must register and drop off their pumpkin by noon  Oct. 24. Lighting should be in place when the carving is dropped off. The fee is $3 on or before Oct. 23, and $5 the day of the event.

Information Sessions for Music Education Students

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Dana School of Music will host two virtual information sessions for those interested in a degree in music education.

The sessions will take place Oct. 20 and Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Each session will include the same information.

Students and families will have the opportunity to meet Randall Goldberg, dean of the Dana School of Music, Daniel Keown, music education faculty member, and current YSU students.

The events will be hosted on Zoom. Those interested should complete an online registration at YSU.edu/dana after which an email containing a link and instructions will be sent.
