YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – It’s the height of summer and the entertainment calendar is bursting at the seams this weekend. Here are the highlights:
It all starts this evening with a concert by classic rockers Styx, with opening act Donnie Iris and the Cruisers, at The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers have a big weekend at Eastwood Field. Tonight is Buck Night ($1 admission for bleacher seats, $1 hot dogs and $1 bees); Friday is Big 50/50 drawing night and the Zooperstars will entertain, with post-game fireworks; and Saturday is Ed O’Neill bobblehead night, featuring an action pose of the Youngstown native and actor who was also a college football player.
Country music singer AC Jones will give a free concert Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Austintown Park amphitheater.
On Saturday, The Vindys will headline a concert at The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre, and Queen tribute band Queen Nation will play at the Warren Community Amphitheatre.
Looking for live theater? The Mahoning Valley Players will present Shakespeare’s “All’s Well That Ends Well” at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, at Morley Pavilion. Admission is free. And Rust Belt Theater will present its original musical spoof “Forbidden Youngstown” at 8 p.m. Friday.
