Youngstown Tree-Lighting Ceremony Friday Will Be Streamed

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city’s annual tree-lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Friday on Central Square, downtown. While it won’t be a public event this year due to the pandemic, the lighting will be livestreamed on the Youngstown CityScape Facebook page.

Holiday lighting will brighten much of the downtown, including the trees along West Federal Street, the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater, Huntington Community Alley and Premier Bank Tower.

In addition, CityScape is sponsoring Dress Up for the Holidays, a downtown window decorating contest. Windows will be judged Friday and the winners will be announced at the tree lighting.

Cash prizes will be awarded for Best Overall Display, Most Whimsical Display and Best Lighting Display. Additional gift prizes are being provided by One Hot Cookie and Penguin City Brewery.
